Real churros in Spain are not light and fluffy; they're like this. These were pretty good except they were much tougher than churros I've bought. I didn't overmix but they ended up chewy.

The ingredients needed to make Churros:
  1. Prepare 200 g all purpose flour sifted
  2. Prepare 1/2 butter
  3. Get 1 cup water
  4. Take 3 tablespoons sugar
  5. Make ready 1/2 tablespoon salt
  6. Get 3 drops vanilla extract
  7. Take 2 eggs
  8. Prepare Vegetable oil for deep frying
  9. Get Cinnamon sugar or confectioners sugar
  10. Get 1/2 cup milk
  11. Take 100 g easy melt chocolate or 2 cups Milo dissolved 6 tbsp water

Taco Bell ripped them off with their Cinnamon Twists. The original Spanish churros were made with just flour and water (maybe some oil) dough. I have loved churros ever since I was a little girl wandering the streets of Tijuana. A churro is a fried-dough pastry—predominantly choux—based snack.

Steps to make Churros:
  1. In a medium saucepan melt butter with water, sugar, and salt. Add vanila extract.
  2. Put in low heat, add flour and mix well until no more dry flour shows. Remove from heat and cool for about 10 minutes.
  3. Add eggs one at a time and mix well.
  4. Put in a piping bag with a large star tip and pipe. Pipe dough (about 5 inches) and cut of ends with scissors. Chill for about 30 minutes.
  5. Heat oil for frying to around 375°. Fry for about 4-5 minutes (make sure to turn churros around to cook evenly) until golden brown. Remove cooked churros and roll on cinammon sugar or sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
  6. To make the dipping sauce, heat milk in a saucepan in low heat and add chopped chocolate, stir constantly until sauce thickens.
  7. Serve churros with chocolate dipping sauce and enjoy.

Churros are traditional in Spain and Portugal, where they originated, as well as in the Philippines and Ibero-America. The Mexican version of a quick fried cake, churros are incredible tasty treats that couldn't be easier to make. Whether you want to craft them from scratch or are looking for a quicker fix. Meanwhile, spoon the churro dough into a pastry bag fitted with a large tip. Fry the churros, turning them once, until golden brown.
