- Cut the bread slices and dry grind them into a fine powder/ bread crumbs
- Place the bread crumbs in a bowl and add the flours
- Add salt to taste, water and buttermilk
- Mix all the ingredients well and let it rest while we make the tempering
- Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a tadka pan and add the mustard and cumin seeds
- After they splutter,add onions and chillies
- After a minute, add the tempering into the bread batter
- Mix well and heat 1 tablespoon oil on a non stick pan
- Pour a laddful of the batter in the center of the pan and gently spread it to the size of a normal utaapam
- Cook on Low heat till both sides are crisp and slightly brown
- Prepare the remaining utaapams similiarly
- Serve immediately accompanied by your favourite chutnies/sambhar
